What is Ausbildung?
Ausbildung is Germany's vocational-training system. In the dual model, practical work at a company is combined with classroom learning at a vocational school. Opportunities exist in healthcare, technical trades, logistics, commerce, hospitality and many other fields.
Key visa topics
For third-country nationals, a concrete training place, secure financing and usually German language competence are required. Official guidance says B1 German is normally expected for the vocational-training visa, unless the training institution has already assessed the language level or another exception applies.
Calculate training pay against living costs
In-company training provides an allowance, but it may not cover every expense in high-cost cities. Budget for rent, transport, insurance and the initial housing deposit.
The long-term advantage
Successfully completing vocational training in Germany and then working in qualified employment can create a strong basis for longer-term residence. Choose a profession for its development path, not only because a training place is currently open.
Who is it for? People who prefer applied learning, are ready to develop German and want a direct route into the German labour market.
