Who it fits

  • Graduates in engineering, computer science, mathematics or the natural sciences
  • Software and hardware specialists looking for, or already holding, an offer
  • People whose degree is recognised but whose German is still weak

What is usually required

  • A university degree recognised in Germany (anabin H+ or equivalent).
  • An employment contract or binding offer in a field related to the degree.
  • For the Blue Card, a gross annual salary above the threshold — lower for shortage occupations.
  • German is not required for an English-speaking role, but it is for settlement and citizenship.

The route, step by step

  1. Check how your degree is listed in anabin.
  2. Apply for target roles and confirm the salary threshold against the offer.
  3. Apply for the EU Blue Card or a permit under § 18b.
  4. Register, insure yourself and collect the residence permit in Germany.
  5. Take German to B1 to shorten the path to permanent residence.
