Language School

Coming to learn German is the most common first step before university or an Ausbildung. This permit carries no right to work and lasts only as long as the course, so the step after it has to be planned from the start.

§ 16f AufenthG

What is usually required

  • Enrolment at a language school on a course of at least 18 hours a week, which is what counts as intensive.
  • Proof that the whole course has been paid for.
  • Proof of funds for the length of the course — usually a blocked account.
  • Health insurance and a valid passport.
  • People below A2 who want an intensive course to move faster
  • Anyone completing the language requirement before a Studienkolleg or university application
  • People working towards the B1 a training contract usually needs
