YOUR ROUTE

Social Sciences, Business and Humanities

Here a degree alone rarely carries the application: most roles expect German, and the offer has to show a clear link to the qualification. Once a job is in hand, though, the process moves as fast as it does for technical profiles.

§ 18b AufenthG

What is usually required

  • A university degree recognised in Germany.
  • An employment contract whose link to the degree can be shown.
  • B2 German for most roles, and higher for client-facing ones.
  • For a Blue Card, the general salary threshold — the shortage reduction rarely applies in these fields.
  • Graduates in business, economics, management, communications or the social sciences
  • People working in finance, HR, marketing and operations
  • Anyone planning to start with a master’s in Germany and move into work
