Technical University Graduates

Engineering and IT are among the shortage occupations Germany names openly. The Blue Card salary threshold is lower for them, and recognition is often settled simply by the degree being listed in anabin.

§ 18b AufenthG / Blaue Karte EU

What is usually required

  • A university degree recognised in Germany (anabin H+ or equivalent).
  • An employment contract or binding offer in a field related to the degree.
  • For the Blue Card, a gross annual salary above the threshold — lower for shortage occupations.
  • German is not required for an English-speaking role, but it is for settlement and citizenship.
  • Graduates in engineering, computer science, mathematics or the natural sciences
  • Software and hardware specialists looking for, or already holding, an offer
  • People whose degree is recognised but whose German is still weak
